God's Wisdom for Little Girls
I can't say enough wonderful things about this book! It is truely a treasure... I think every child should read such a beautiful book. The teachings are important and the pictures are wonderful. After reading this book, I am buying other Elizabeth George books!

A delightful little book for girls!
I learned a really important lesson myself while reading thhis book to my daughter. I would reccomend this book to any parent wanting to instill the Truth of God word to there daughters.

All women and women with daughters need this book!
I have always hoped there would be a book like this one....and finally here it is! This book captures the essence of Proverbs 31 and how we can define and apply this Proverb today. Proverbs 31 has been my goal as a wife, mother and Christian for years, but I have been confused in that past how I could apply this Proverb to my life today. This is the perfect book for your daughters also - it is written on there level of understanding also. It can be used for the young and old alike, plus it would make the perfect gift for a new Christian mom that is having a baby girl. The pictures are beautiful and inviting. Thank you Elizabeth George!

Book report about The Good Luck Pony by Catherine Marie Fox
This book is about a girl who loved horses like I do. She always wanted to ride a real one and go very fast. Then one day she took some riding lessons. First, she learned how to guide the pony by using it's reins. Each week she took her pony around a circle with some other girls. One day she had to ride a different pony. She felt very unconformable on the new pony. Then all of a sudden the pony took off while the little girl went with him getting hit in the face with branches. Then the instructor ran with her pony and grabbed the reins. The little girl's pony stopped. Then... Find out yourself when you order it. I loved this book because it is about horses which I love and it has perfect words so I can read it easier. Also I love it because it has a charm which is a gold horse with a gold chain. It is very pretty. I think it was a good story because it teaches you how to be brave. I think you would love it if you love horses. I am collecting all of Elizabeth Koda-Callan's books which is also called Magic Charm books. She's my favorite author because she writes all about little girls with different stories. Elizabeth Koda-Callan now lives in New York city. You can read more about her in the back of the pages from "The Good Luck Pony."

A must-read book for youngsters.
This book is an easy-to-read book which is great for young children just starting to read, to help read better.

Wonderful!!!
This book is a wonderfull book for any little girl that has ever dreamed of riding. it comes with a good luck charm in the shape of a horse. this is a very inspiring book for young readers and horse riders. I recomend this book be given as a gift to any little girl that has just started to ride. this is a wonderful book.

Great Bedtime Book
This has been a wonderful bedtime book for my daughter. We started reading to her the day she was born. We bought this book and she loves it. It takes you through all the to do steps before bed.(bathtime/brush teeth..etc)..which is very helpful for parents who can be forgetful at times (ha-ha). I have read this book so much that I have it memorized. Awesome book to buy.

Baby loves "Good Night Baby"
This will be my second copy of this book, my little girl wore out the first one. She loves to look through the book and look at the photos of the babies. She also enjoys it when we read it to her. She picks up the book and says "baby" (she's a year old).

Photos of Babies
My daughter has loved this book since she was 9 months old. She wants to look at the photos of the babies and children over and over again. She is now 19 months old and this book is still one of her favorites.

Growing Beyond Survival: A Self-Help Toolkit for Managing Traumatic Stress
Published in Paperback by Sidran Press (October, 2000)
Author: Elizabeth G. Vermilyea
Average review score:

really helpful
This is one of the best self-help books for trauma because it teaches useful skills. I'd recommend it to anyone who is struggling with nightmares, flashbacks, spacing out, etc. It's more for child abuse survivors, but I think the exercises would work for any kind of trauma. My therapist likes it too, and we work on these skills together.

Great Manual for learning Trust and Coping after trauma
Easy to understand guidebook with exercises and great explanations. Helps traumatized people and those with PTSD to learn coping skills and to develop trust. The author points out that trust is essential before the person can start to heal or learn better ways to handle relationships and the problems of everyday life. Geared more towards people who were abused as children or adults in relatioships, it still has many useful tools and lessons for people with Combat PTSD. Probably most useful in combination with group or one on one therapy.

A unique skills workbook empowering survivors
Growing Beyond Survival is a unique skills workbook empowering survivors to take control of (and de-escalate) their most distressing trauma related symptoms. This self-regulation toolkit is comprehensive, flexible, and can be used independently as a self-paced, self-help program, or in the context of individual or groups therapy. Elizabeth Vermilyea offers a variety of expressive, containment, and visualization techniques that trauma survivors can draw upon to recognize, contextualize, and understand distressing dissociative and post-traumatic reactions. Growing Beyond Survival enables trauma survivors to understand where their symptoms come from and why, as well as become able to select and make use of different coping tools and strategies for self-regulation and resolution purposes. Very highly recommended as a personal and professional trauma stress reduction reference library.

Guardian of the Vision (Merlin's Descendants, 3)
Published in Hardcover by DAW Books (08 May, 2001)
Author: Irene Radford
Average review score:

Not having read the first two installments of this trilogy.
One of the more engaging reads I have had in a few years. Guardian of the visions is fast passed and fun! Essentially a intrigue novel. Radford utilizes real individuals from seventeenth century England and France to set her cast of characters on a well written journey. So well written that at no time I find myself at a loss for not having read the first two installments of this trilogy.

Twin sons and heirs embroiled in Queen Elizabeth's world
Guardian Of The Vision is the third novel of Merlin's Descendants, and familiarity with the previous books will lend to a smooth transition in reading this story of the Elizabethan era in Great Britain. Twin sons and heirs become embroiled in Queen Elizabeth's world and face witches, demons and change in this story of a journey to fulfill magical heritage.

Lyrical and exciting saga
Since the time of King Arthur, a Pendragon has always guarded England and its shores. The descendants of Merlin also try to keep the peace, but when war occurs they react quickly to end the conflict as soon as possible. In 1553, Raven is the current Pendragon and will soon name her grandson Griffin, the older twin brother of Donovan as her heir.

During a border skirmish with the Scotts, Griffin has a religious epiphany that leads him to the abandonment of his powers, his titles, and his birthright. He becomes a Catholic priest. Donovan picks up the mantle of the Pendragon, but though he understands the role he does not have the power to perform the job. Roanna, descendent of the Sorceress Nimue, has called forth a demon, but her summons fails as the demon of chaos Tryblith controls her. Only a Pendragon can stand in their way of spreading chaos throughout the world.

The third installment in the Merlin's Descendents series places a magical spin to true historic events. Irene Radford enchantingly brings to life the early Elizabethan era so that the audience will think that the author contains Merlin's genes. The battles on the mundane and mystical planes propel the story line forward, but the characters make the novel so fascinating that the good, the bad, and the ugly compel the reader into a one sitting session.

Harry Potter's World: Multidisciplinary Critical Perspectives
Published in Paperback by Routledge (January, 2003)
Author: Elizabeth E. Heilman
Average review score:

But it's just a book for children...
That was often the comment I received when I wrote my senior thesis last fall about the Harry Potter series. Specifically, I wrote a feminist criticism of the series exploring the ways in which Hermione resists and reaffirms gender stereotypes--"Miss Smarty Pants," "The Damsel in Distress," etc. Although I am a huge fan of this series (even my dog's name is Muggle), I couldn't believe that I was the only adult concerned about issues of gender, class, and so forth in the books. So imagine my delight upon finding this book...until I realized it wouldn't be published until January 2003, and I was presenting my thesis on December 13, 2002. Not only is this a well-presented and organized collection of essays from a variety of perspectives, but it is also edited by the outstanding & very generous Dr. Heilman. I wrote personally to her about my paper (and dilemma), and she provided to me the working & yet unpublished copy of her essay dealing with gender issues. Luckily, the book was released ahead of schedule so I was able to cite from her published version. My own experience with this book aside, I highly recommend it to Harry fans who would enjoy thoughtful academic discourse on the series.

Good resource for academics
I joined the Harry Potter phenomenon late in the game. Book four had already been in circulation for over two years and at 25, I considered myself well above the normal reader age. However, once I picked up the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, I was (no pun intended), spellbound. I spent the rest of that long summer weekend reading the remaining books. Since then, I have read each book in the series at least 20 times apiece. Somewhere in the middle of all the reading, I began to jot down notes, questions and observations I made- little items that I wanted to ponder afterwards. Questions such as: Why did Professor Dumbledore so prize the individual merits of courage and "sheer nerve"? Did Hermione and other female students ever experience gender discrimination at Hogwarts? What defined the social structure of the wizard world (surely one exists as is evident by the influence of the well-to-do Malfoy family)? What is it about the Harry Potter books that have such universal appeal? And most importantly, what lessons can be learned?

Shortly after Pottermania began, several books appeared on the market dedicated to analyzing the phenomenon. Some addressed broad themes, while others disseminated every detail of the book, trying to decipher each and every meaning of every word of J.K. Rowling's works. Among these is Harry Potter's World: Multidisciplinary Critical Perspectives, a collection of essays written by professors and graduate students.

Harry Potter's World: Multidisciplinary Critical Perspectives is by far the most comprehensive book of this genre. Edited by Michigan State University professor Elizabeth Heilman, the book is comprised of numerous essays separated into four perspectives: Cultural Studies Perspectives, Reader Response and Interpretive Perspectives, Literary Perspectives: The Hero, Myth and Genre and Critical and Sociological Perspectives.

As a graduate student pursuing a MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction, this book has been a wonderful guide for me and enriched my understanding of the many facets of curriculum study. Not only does it provide unique interpretations of the series, but it also stimulates critical reflection and offers deep analyses of the boy wizard the world has grown to love.

While it is appropriate for college and graduate-level classes, anyone interested in exploring the cultural phenomenon of Harry Potter should read and will benefit from this. You will never look at Harry Potter the same way again.

A must-read
"This book is a must-read for everyone interested not only in 'Harry Potter' the phenomenon, but culture as the pedagogical force par excellence of the new millennium."
Henry Giroux.

"Harry Potter's World is a fascinating attempt not only to take on the kaleidoscopic intellectual ramifications of the Harry Potter books, but to make them accessible to a wide audience." Peter Hunt, Editor, Routledge International Companion Encyclopedia of Children's Literature

"These analyses are well grounded, articulate, and conceptually wide-ranging. This book gives all of us Seekers a chance to catch Snitches of insight into our own world as well as Harry Potter's."
Betsy Hearne, author of Choosing Books for Children: A Commonsense Guide

"Reading Harry Potter's World is like having a triple-shot latté-a pleasant eye-opener. There is imagination here, intellectual engagement, surprising insights, and fresh angles of regard. All of it provides an antidote to the iconic Harry, the authoritative Harry, the stable, properly policed, and clichéd Harry." Bill Ayers, Distinguished Professor of Education, University of Illinois at Chicago

One of the Best Veggie Cook Books
Being a vegetarian for over ten years I have many cookbooks on the subject and this is definately one of the best. What a wonderfully well written book, easy to follow and every one of the dishes I have tried have been delicious. This is not only great for veggies but also make wonderful meals for those carnivores in the family. Some of the recipes take a little time to prepare, but the end results absolutely make the effort worthwhile.

Incredible healthy, great tasting meals
I own both the High Fit - Low Fat cookbooks (regular and vegetarian). The books are good for both novice and experienced chefs. Using these cookbooks, I have learned how to eat incredibly healthy while serving really tasty meals! The Eggplant Parmesan recipe is now a requirement for potlucks I attend. I love it because it is so easy to make. The cookbooks make great gifts too, I bought 10 as gifts for family members. Although I own many cookbooks, I do the majority of my cooking from the High Fit - Low Fat recipes.

Full of Information, Tips & Color Photos
I cannot recommend this book highly enough for anyone who intends to decorate or remodel their home. As the slipcase states, it is an unrivaled visual sourcebook with almost 1,000 color photos and illustrations.

It is not just full of prety pictures of someone else's house decorated by experts, but full of projects you can do yourself as you are led through the steps, details and directories of where you can obtain the materials.

I've had this book since it came out and have shown it to many friends who have gone out and bought their own copies. An indespensible book for anyonew thinking of undertaking a project themselves, or to afford them the ideas and knowledge to have others do the work for them.

So good I bought 2 for friends with new homes.
This is the most informative decorating book I've come across. It tells you how to do and make everything you could possibly need for your home with easy to follow instructions. It's inspirational!

Great Decorator's Book!
Wonderful pictures, ideas and how-to directions! Has history behind some decorating trends, plus ideas for every room. Very classic, fashionable, high quality suggestions! I am a huge Martha Stewart fan, and after reading all of her books, this is a great addition (even for the beginner)!

How to Communicate With Spirits

Author: Elizabeth Owens

Very good
I am a psychic and medium and usally we dont' need books since spirit tells you what you need, i wanted to find out if any other medium or psychics had written anything that was true to help others, and found this one. I read all of it within two days and was happy that it was all factual stuff. Certain things we all go thru were all here. I recommend this for other psychics and mediums esp new to practicing readings and new to clairaudince. It was alot of fun to read and hear other mediums storys too.

Opened My Eyes!
Wow, I never knew I was capable of communicating with spirits! I loved this book because it was easy to understand and the author has humor. I found the stories amusing and amazing, and I liked hearing from different mediums on how they developed their abilities. It was very helpful to me to learn about others experiences so that I know I'm not weird, but what I've seen is natural. Thank you for an excellent book!

How to Communicate with Spirits
This book was written to express Life after Life. It was done in an easy to read way with excellent experiences from people who have experienced with no doubt. I know people who read it will become more aware of Spirit connection and communication and will be so helpful to those who have lost loved ones - it will be so comforting to know they are still with us.

How to Hide a Horse
Published in Paperback by Simon Spotlight (November, 1999)
Author: Elizabeth Winfrey
Average review score:

A great book!
Michelle is taking horse back riding lessons and loves it!Michelle is trying to save a pony from being sent to New York City and Michelle thinks he is so cute that she hides him in an old barn where no one could find him . Her older siser is only there to ask a boy who works there on a date. I like michelle better then her sister and anyway it is a Marykate and Ashely book.

A great Full House book
I bought it for my cousin's 10th birthday in a couple months, but I just had to read it first. Reminds me of the TV episodes. While Michelle is trying to save a pony, Stephanie is trying to impress a stablehand at the stables where Michelle rides. The two stories mingle nicely; it's neat how the author has the chapters go back and forth from Michelle and Stephanie's point of view. One thing I noticed is that not all the Full House characters appear. While at first I would have liked for all to appear, as I read that didn't matter to me, it was still great. I imagine the author only used certain ones so as not to confuse those who have never watched the show. When my cousin gets older and has web privileges I'll be interested to see how she rates it. She enjoys Full House but this will be the first of the books she's gotten. I chose this one because she's wild about horses.

Wonderful
Michelle and Stephanie are always disagreeing... but about a horse they don't even own! Where it goes and how it lives. Read the book to see who gets their way.
